Not only did Detective Pikachu nearly dethrone Avengers: Endgame in the box office, and even sold more tickets than it a few days during the time that both movies ran simultaneously, but it also satisfyingly wrapped things up and actually COMPLETED THE ENDING THE GAME DIDN'T GIVE. Meaning, that this is not only a movie based on a video game that's really good AND financially viable, but it's a Video Game Movie that's BETTER than the game it's BASED on.
Detective Pikachu already has movie sequels lined up, and it's seeming like the movie is going to vastly outdo the game in both popularity and longevity.
