While sometimes Disney messes up their sequels, sometimes they come up with good ones. I enjoyed the Lion King 2 and Cinderella 3, if only because they gave her a chance to truly show her worth. Something they never did with other Disney Princesses created in Walt's time.
I usually don't watch sequels, when it's very good like Terminator 2 or Two Towers. With Disney, I enjoyed Lion King 2 and Bambi 2. So, there's something.
If you're interested, a friend of mine I follow had taken pictures of the Bill Peet draft of The Jungle Book when it was on display to see for a themed exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum: https://imgur.com/gallery/jungle-book-1967-original-story-treatment-by-bill-peet-15nZeF2 While it does have some faults, I do feel the plot in this in some regards were handled better and had a much more conclusive ending. Even though my feelings on how Walt treated the source material, kind of condescending. But then again there is a whole lot of discussion to be made of whether Disney improves or "waters down" their original stories that were the basis to it.

ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't hate all of them either. (I did recommend quite a few of them in my Top 10 Animated Sequels video.) But Jungle Book 2...nah.

If it's any consolation, this is only the second worst Jungle Book Movie at most.
